12 September 1940.

At 05.30 we arrived at the War Aerodrome, which is 15 kilometers outside of Berlin. The car stopped at the end of long line of similar black Mercedes limousines. Obviously the are quite a few other people going on this. Several minutes later General Bergner appeared. It was reported to us that we were all specially selected, both the military and civilian personnel. Each of us has a particular skill and the necessary experience required to complete the mission. The mission is top-secret and we will receive information as and when necessary. Bergner wished us a happy journey and that our Fatherland and our Fuhrer were depending on us! After a few practicalities, we boarded the transport plane and sat in close-fitting easy chairs. I fell asleep almost instantly.
